Today was my youngest's first day back to school. Summer has officially ended. For her, it's back to being bored with classes that don't challenge her enough, texting during class, coming home and sleeping until I get home, going to football games and chillin' with her girlfriends. For me, it's back to being taxi driver and running her to and fro when needed, more dumbass people on the road assured to cause accidents and congest the lanes and being met with school zones as I drive into work.
It's hard to believe that she's in the 11th grade and will soon turn 17. She will be the last of my children to spread her wings and fly into what life holds for her even though she holds strong to her statement that she's going to live with me until she's 40. I'm sure she'll come to her senses by the age of 18.
Next year will be busy with senior pictures, senior ring (actually that will probably be this year), senior prom, graduation invitations, all while she suffers from senioritis with no wanting to go to school and wanting to hurry up and graduate already.
I hope when she embarks on life's journey college is at the top of the list and she'll find her niche in something she truly enjoys.
