I love when I am able to Skype with this little guy as I'm getting ready in the morning for work.
I love seeing him look at the monitor, smiling when he sees me, having almost his entire face fill the screen as he's saying "Loh-Lah". I love those big brown eyes and his little toothy smile.
His mom (my daughter) will tell him "Give Lola a kiss". He'll lean toward the monitor and I can hear a little smooch sound as he gives me a kiss. lol, he'll also try and feed me snacks or food. He'll hold it out towards the monitor for me to eat and I lean in like I'm taking the bite he's offering, make yum yum sounds and tell him "Thank you" and he'll just smile like I ate it while he puts the same bite into his mouth.
My daughter, son-in-law and grandson live in Canada so it's really hard not seeing him in the context that most grandparents are able to see their grandchildren. I see him on Skype weekly at minimum but seeing him on the computer is not the same as smothering those chubby little cheeks with smooches, being able to sit in the floor and play with him, chase him around the house, take him to play at the park, sit and read him a favorite book, or even just rocking and holding him.
I'm really close to my children and being just as close or even closer to my grandchildren is very important to me.
Plus, grandkids are easier to spoil when they're in close proximity.
