Bowling League

A couple weeks ago I was asked to join a bowling league.  I found this to be funny because I've probably bowled a handful of times in my entire life.  BUT I thought "What the heck, why not?"  So I committed to participating in this league once a week for the next few months.   

Tonight is the first league game and the group is fully aware that I'll not be able to participate for a couple of weeks due to having surgery.  I think I was referred to as a "handicap" or someone else will play for me because I'm considered a "handicap".  To be honest, I'm not really sure of the rules or guidelines.  Any of them.  My knowledge of bowling is to try and roll the ball toward the pins and pray it doesn't roll into the gutter.  I suspect I'll become quite knowledgeable on the game when this is all said and done.
